Banshan Subdistrict is located in the northeast part of Hangzhou City. It was established as a town in 1984 and served as the seat of the former Banshan District People's Government. In December 2010, it was transformed into Banshan Subdistrict under Gongshu District. It covers an area of 21.4 square kilometers and is named after the Banshan area within its jurisdiction. Banshan Subdistrict is bordered by Dinglan Subdistrict in Jianggan District to the east and is connected to Shangtang Subdistrict to the south. It is separated from Shiqiao Subdistrict in Xiacheng District by the upper Tang River. It shares a border with Kangqiao Subdistrict to the west and Chongxian Subdistrict in Yuhang District to the north. The subdistrict has jurisdiction over 12 communities, including 4 communities created by the transformation of villages into residential areas. The registered population in the area is 38,000 with a floating population of 48,000. Banshan National Forest Park, located within the subdistrict, is the only "Double-A Grade" national forest park in the main urban area of Hangzhou. The newly completed Wangcheng Pavilion has become a new landmark in the northern part of the city. The "Banshan Lixia Customs," one of the "24 Solar Terms," was successfully listed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016.In recent years, Banshan Subdistrict has been promoting the coordinated development of the scenic area, Taoyuan, Tianyuan, Jizhen, HangBanshan Subdistrict is located in the northeast part of Hangzhou City.
