Banned Dog Breeds in Hangzhou's Restricted Zones
According to official regulations, the following dog breeds (and their mixes) are generally not permitted in the "extra restrictive zones" of urban Hangzhou. It's crucial for prospective tenants to be aware of these rules before bringing a pet.

Understanding the Restricted Zones
According to Article 6 of the "Restrictions about Dog Keeping in Hangzhou", the urban area of Hangzhou is designated as the "extra restrictive dog keeping zone," while the rural areas are considered the "common restrictive dog keeping zone."
根据《杭州市限制养犬规定》第六条，市区的城区为重点限制养犬地区(简称重点限养区)，市区的农村为一般限制养犬地区(简称一般限养区)。
The "extra restrictive zone" (highlighted in yellow on the map below) refers to the area bordered by the Qiantang River and three city highways on the east, north, and west sides. This includes the West Brook (Xixi) and West Lake scenic areas, plus the Zhijiang National Tourist Resort.
重点限制养犬区为绕城公路内钱塘江以北区域，即城东、城西、城北以绕城公路为界，城南以钱塘江为界，包括西溪、西湖两个风景区，之江度假区。黄色高亮部分。
There are exceptions: Owners with rural residency and an independent house within the "extra restrictive zone" may be subject to the more lenient rules of the "common restrictive zone." Conversely, owners living in an apartment building in a "common restrictive zone" are NOT allowed to keep fierce dogs (referring to the list of banned breeds above).
重点限制养犬区内，属农村籍且有独立农居房的，按一般限制养犬办法处理；一般限制养犬区内，集中居住单元式楼房的，不得饲养烈性犬。
