Entrepreneurs, tech founders and investors took center stage at an investment promotion conference in Hangzhou on May 18, sharing firsthand stories of why they chose the city as a place to build and grow.

At the event, Dedao app founder Luo Zhenyu explained his decision to relocate part of the company to Hangzhou through what he called his "three calculations" — innovation potential, cultural depth and talent concentration.

He described Hangzhou as a city where businesses can undergo unexpected transformation and where commercial activity unfolds within a rich historical and cultural setting.

Longtime industry leaders also highlighted Hangzhou's strengths.

H3C CEO Yu Yingtao pointed to the city's smart governance, thriving AI ecosystem and business-friendly environment, while Geely Holding CEO An Conghui emphasized Hangzhou's strategic investment in advanced manufacturing, supportive policies and strong industrial clustering.

The conference also showcased eight rising technology companies spanning embodied AI, AI chips, space computing, smart hardware and biotech.

Investors stressed that Hangzhou's advantage lies not in betting on a single trend, but in creating conditions where innovation across sectors can thrive.

More than just a promotional event, the conference delivered a message to global innovators: bring bold ideas — Hangzhou will provide the ecosystem to help them grow.
