Hangzhou Drum Tower is located to the east of Wushan Mountain in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is bordered by Shiwu Kui Lane to the south and Dajing Lane to the north. Zhonghe Road faces it to the east, and Wugong Mountain is to the west. Originally serving as a defensive tower on the coast, it was first built during the Southern Dynasty in the Five Dynasties period. It suffered from repeated warfare and was rebuilt in the 40th year of Ming Jiajing's reign (1561). However, during the Ten Years' Chaos, it was demolished. In 2002, the Hangzhou Municipal Government completed the reconstruction of Hangzhou Drum Tower, with a standard design featuring five bays and a double-eaved gable roof in the style of the Ming Dynasty's drum tower architecture. The rebuilt Drum Tower harmoniously corresponds with the Chenghuang Ge (City God Pavilion) on the west side of Wushan Mountain.
